Game Day Watch, 1/7: Minnesota Wild @ Los Angeles Kings

HOW TO WATCH

Game Time: 1:00 PM Pacific

TV: Fox Sports West, NHLN

Radio: KABC AM 790

Stream: Fox Sports Go (requires cable subscription)

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

if you’re a Kings fan: We correctly assumed that Thursday would be a trap game for the Kings. Today we assume… we’ll, we don’t assume anything positive, but the Kings should be fired up after a rather useless Thursday showing.

if you’re a Wild fan: Congrats! Your team has the best point pace in the West, and your goal differential is 25 goals better than any other team in the conference. If the ending of a 12-game win streak shook you up, scoring three goals in the third in San Jose to win 5-4 probably helped you feel better.

if you’re a hockey fan: The Blue Jackets finally lost on Thursday, so why not pay attention to the team that had a slightly shorter (but still impressive) win streak that you totally didn’t notice?

PLAYERS TO WATCH

for the Kings: Peter Budaj. We are now at the point where Budaj isn’t just the starter, he’s the guy that we all beg to see in net. Zatkoff got his first start of the year in LA’s first matchup with Minnesota.

for the Red Wings: HErik Staal. The longtime Hurricane had a dreadful 2015-16, but since signing with the Wild he’s been on a tear. He had three points against San Jose and has 17 in fifteen games since December 1.
