Gatineau is going to the QMJHL finals (Prospect notes)

Olympiques movin’ on
The Gatineau Olympiques weren’t very harmonious in their locker room of the Colisée Pepsi in QuebecTuesday night as the players all sang along to the chorus of Sweet Caroline, the Neil Diamond classic. Moments earlier though, nothing sounded sweeter than the final buzzer signifying the end of Game 7 with the Quebec Remparts, and a 5-2 win that propelled them into the President’s Cup final starting Thursday in Saint John against the Sea Dogs. After they let a 2-0 lead slip away, the Olympiques lost the lead and the momentum as the game went into the third period tied 2-2. Then, two quick goals sealed the fate of both clubs as a 5-2 win will send the Olympiques on while the Remparts are done. “We needed the whole team to for this,” said Olympiques defenceman Nicolas Deslauriers. “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I’m so happy because we blocked one of the best offences in the league.”

Deslauriers is now 12th in the Q in playoff scoring, adding one assist and bringing his total to 4 goals, 13 assists, 17 points. I’m still holding out hope for a Deslauriers vs. Kitsyn Memorial Cup match-up.
