Injury Update: Sedin Doesn’t Practice, Carter Does, Loktionov Recalled After Richardson’s Appendectomy

A flurry of news just hit, indicating that the final lineups for tomorrow night’s game are still up in the air.

Daniel Sedin’s Status In Doubt

Daniel Sedin did not participate in the main practice with the Canucks, fueling speculation that he may have suffered a concussion-related setback. However, he is supposed to skate with the healthy scratches:

Dan Murphy @sportsnetmurph

#canucks practice has commenced and Daniel Sedin is not on ice. Guessing there was a setback after yesterday’s full practice. [Link]

Meanwhile, Jeff Carter took to the ice once more, practicing with the first power play unit. Yesterday, Carter said he expected to play, though Darryl Sutter remarked that he had a “ways to go.” Reality, or gamesmanship? Maybe both:

Jim Fox @JimFox19 Good sign-77 Carter working with #1 PP unit in practice-still day-to-day!

Everyone has expected him to play, but only Carter knows how that ankle will feel tomorrow.

Richardson Out, Loktionov Recalled

Finally, in an unexpected turn of events, Brad Richardson underwent an emergency appendectomy. The Kings have recalled Andrei Loktionov from Manchester on an emergency basis.

@LAKings

Richardson out due to injury. Loktionov expected to meet team in Vancouver.

Sutter had just reunited the highly successful trio of Brown-Kopitar-Williams, taking Richardson off the top line, but he was a candidate to replace Penner.

While more comfortable at center, the Kings have also played Lokti on the wing. That’s funny, we were just talking about him…

Best wishes for Sedin and Richardson’s health.

Now, let’s discuss. I assume, for now, the plan is to push Carter back into service, regardless of whether he’s 100%.

1. Is Carter at partial strength better than no Carter at all? What do you think the lineup should be?

2. What should the lines look like if it Carter can’t play?
