Jake Muzzin signs extension with LA Kings. 5 yrs, $20 million total.— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) October 15, 2014
Lisa Dillman of the LA Times confirmed the accuracy of the number.
This is excellent news for the Kings, because the team owns 61% of all shot attempts with Jake Muzzin is on the ice and as Andrew pointed out in his season review, Muzzin's WOWYs (With Or Without You) are fantastic, no matter who he's paired with.
This is also good for Drew Doughty who can't endorse his defense partner's skill enough. No, really, he can't for fear he might not play with Muzz.
More importantly, this means 5 more years of EYEBROWS and all of Langluy's eyebrow jokes. And more corsi goodness from the defenseman in his prime.
#LAKings will spend $8.16 million on their No. 2/3 defensemen for the next 4 seasons while they're in their primes. $15.16 for Nos. 1/2/3.— Cörey Masisak (@cmasisak22) October 15, 2014
29 non-LAK teams' 1/2/3 D are either a) not as good b) more $$$ c) older/more likely to decline d) not signed for 4 years or e) all of above— Cörey Masisak (@cmasisak22) October 15, 2014
Yeah, Dean Lombardi is definitely a wizard.
