Reign lose goaltender Jones – San Bernardino County Sun
That didn’t take long. One day before the Reign’s third game of the season, they lost a goaltender to the American Hockey League. Manchester, the Kings’ AHL affiliate, has recalled Martin Jones in advance of a three-games-in-three-nights weekend series. On the surface it seems like Jones will only be in Manchester through the weekend – the Monarchs’ top two goalies are believed to be healthy.

Which was closely followed by Rich Hammond reporting that EE is heading to the KHL, in violation of his contract, which will be terminated. Wonder why he wasn’t “loaned” a la Juraj Mikus and Johan Fransson. I’m betting it’s just a techincality and it saves the Kings money that way. Good luck, Iceberg. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have Drew Doughty.

Craig Custance of The Sporting News pointed out the Los Angeles Kings have plenty of available cap space to take on a big salary and could pursue Richards if the Stars decide they cannot re-sign him. ESPN.com’s John Buccigross, in response to a reader’s question, suggested the Stars should be able to get a first round pick, a prospect and a solid roster player for Richards. Buccigross listed the Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers as potential suitors, adding the Maple Leafs and Rangers could offer up a “five- to seven-year, $30-million to $40-million contract.”
The Kings have no cap space. They have Doughty, Jack Johnson, Wayne Simmonds, Oscar Moller, Brad Richardson, Justin Williams, Michal Handzus and Jonathan Bernier to sign.

Manchester will have to get used to that triple-dip of weekend games. The Monarchs play three-game sets such as this one eight of the next 10 weekends. In that regard, the current goaltender rotation is a good thing. With that many games, you need two goalies you can rely on and Manchester has a pair of solid ones in veteran Erik Ersberg and up-and-comer Jeff Zatkoff. Morris said of the rotation. “It’s a healthy competition and both goalies understand the situation.” […] The Monarchs have enjoyed varied scoring thus far, with 15 of 20 skaters registering a point through the first five games. David Meckler (three goals, three assists for six points), Dwight King (5-1-5) and rookie Brandon Kozun (3-1-4) leading the way. But playmaker Oscar Moller remains out of action after suffering a head injury on Sunday. “I’d say he’s day-to-day but my gut feeling is that he won’t be ready for the weekend,” Morris said. “That’s the vibe I got from (trainer Michael Muir).”
The Moller injury was reported on the Monarchs Facebook page as “concussion-like symptoms” after hitting his head on the ice.
What a difference a year makes
Series rosters unveiled 67’s forwards Tyler Toffoli and Ryan Martindale have been selected to the OHL roster for next month’s Subway Super Series against a team of Russian juniors. Calvin de Haan of Carp, Erik Gudbranson of Orléans and Ryan Spooner of Kanata with also participate in the two-game series Nov. 11 at London and Nov. 15 at Sudbury. A team representing the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, including Gatineau Olympiques defenceman Nicolas Deslauriers and goalie Maxime Clermont, will face the touring Russians on Nov. 8 at Saint John, N.B., and on Nov. 10 at Drummondville. A Western Hockey League squad will play host to the Russians on Nov. 17 at Kamloops, B.C., and Nov. 18 at Prince George, B.C.
In addition to Kings’ prospects Toffoli and Deslauriers, Linden Vey and Jordan Weal were named to the WHL team, and Jean-Francois Berube was named to the QMJHL team. Obviously, Brayden Schenn and Kyle Clifford would have been named also, but are currently with the Kings. The only Kings junior prospect not named to a Super Series team is Robbie Czarnik.
