Jonathan Quick Undergoes Knee Surgery, Out Indefinitely

If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

After Jonathan Quick was listed as day-to-day last week, Kings fans tried not to worry.

When John Stevens said that Quick was “a little more than day-to-day” yesterday, Kings fans tried even harder not to worry.

Well, crank the worry-meter up: Jonathan Quick is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. This is, as assured by all people who have given quotes to the media, something entirely different than what has kept him off the ice earlier this season. Quick’s previous injury history has included back issues, groin issues, and wrist issues; this appears to be the first major reported knee injury of his career.

Heirs to the Throne: Part One

While there’s no timetable on Quick’s return, the general gist in the media is in the three- to six-week range, depending on the severity of the injury and the type of repair work needed.

In Quick’s absence, the Kings turn again to Jack Campbell, who has performed admirably behind a team that’s still struggling to put itself together. Campbell has gone 3-4-0 with one shutout and currently sports a 0.912 save percentage and a 2.72 goals against average. Peter Budaj, who has gotten off to a rocky start in the AHL, will back up Campbell.

As of now, it doesn’t appear that the team has any plans to explore bringing in another goalie.

Best of luck to Quick in his recovery and rehab.

What should the Kings do in Jonathan Quick’s absence?

Nothing; use Campbell/Budaj. 52
Look for another goalie on waivers or via trade. 14
