Keeping Up with the Kids - Manchester Monarchs Dec. 8 - 29
A Monarchs only edition of the weekly prospect update.
With Adrian Kempe busy in the IIHF Under 20 World Championships for the next several days, this post will focus solely on the kids in Manchester.

The Monarchs saw their five game win streak snapped with Sunday night's 3-0 loss to the Portland Pirates (Arizona Coyotes). Despite that, they remain atop their division and conference with 46 points. They're second only to the Utica Comets (Vancouver Canucks) in overall league standings.
It's been three weeks since we last checked in on the Monarchs but suffice it to say, they've remained red hot even with a recent rash of injuries. Colin Miller missed some games over the last two weeks due to an upper body injury but scored in his first game back.
Brian O'Neill continued his torrid pace picking up two points (1-1-2) in Friday's game versus the Worcester Sharks. O'Neill got the game-tying goal with the extra attacker pulled after Manchester ceded the lead three times (gave up opening goal, went ahead 2-1, Worcester tied it, Manchester went ahead 3-2 and then Worcester tied it and got a go-ahead goal in the middle of the third).
Nick Shore is still racking up points, as well with the primary assist on O'Neill's goal.
Nick Ebert recently drew back into the lineup due to injuries on the blue line and Jeff Schultz's call up to LA. He scored two goals and netted the game winner in overtime against the Providence Bruins on Saturday.
Manchester was shutout at home on Sunday. Despite eight attempts on the man advantage, the Monarchs couldn't convert and allowed a goal early in the third period. The Pirates scored twice more into the empty net.
It was the third time this season Manchester has been shutout, all of which have come at home. They were shutout only three times all of last year.

The Monarchs took a bit of a step back in terms of possession (they were #2) but the Woo Sharks also took a massive step forward. The minor rash of injuries has probably affected their play a little bit and I suspect that we'll see them improve after the New Year.
