Kings 5, Caps 2 -- Post-Game Bullets
- Did the Kings just snap out of their scoring drought, or did they spend their entire monthly budget of goals in one game?
- I wish Jack Johnson had scored on that pass from Brad Richardson off that beautiful slow-motion feed from Andrei Loktionov.
- Loktionov may be the best player in the league with no goals. He's also become quite a good back-checker.
- I still love the Trevor Lewis - Loktionov - Richardson line and thank the hockey gods for answering my prayers for a Donnelly-Millenesque third line.
- I loved reading, on LAKi, "Kyle Clifford beat Alex Ovechkin to the puck" (on Clifford's goal) but I don't think that was Ovechkin.
- That head "dive" by Jason Chimera was comical. He needs to take stunt-man lessons.
- I choose not to pick on Dustin Brown for failing to get a shot off on a breakaway.
- Two points for Clifford, but that's not as surprising to me as two points for Trent Hunter. I would not have picked him to win the Moreau/Parse/Hunter/Westgarth sweepstakes. In fact, I think I would have picked him to finish last out of that group.
- Dustin Penner had four hits, three shots, and was instrumental on two goals.
- Didn't Penner play center at some point in his career? I mention it because that makes two lines (Penner-Mike Richards-Jarret Stoll, Lewis-Loktionov-Richardson) that are 100% centers. Kinda.
- 1 of 3 on the powerplay. [dances jig]
- Best plus-minus per 60 minutes of ice-time: Brown (.40), Slava Voynov (.33), Loktionov (.24), Justin Williams (.21), Richards (.13), Stoll (.12), Anze Kopitar (0.0).
