Kings-Bruins Preview: Our Offense Should Be Average

Since we last met the Boston Bruins

IN: Zach Hamill, Steve Kampfer

OUT: Zdeno Chara (leg), Daniel Paille (concussion), Greg Campbell.

Jonathan Quick has a perfect record against the Bruins in his career: five wins,1.88 GAA, .937 SV%. His last game in Boston was a 2-0 shutout. He seems to enjoy goaltending duels with Tim Thomas, but Tuuka Rask will be in net this time instead.

The Kings have had a lot of success against the Bruins recently, but given the team’s current struggles, it wouldn’t surprise me if Boston took this game lightly. Losing the grind in the third line doesn’t help. I don’t know what to expect of this team myself.

I will repeat what I said earlier, though: the team is more likely to start shooting at an average clip (8%) than their current below average rate (6% at five-on-five) going forward, and make any replacement coach look like a genius. They should have an average offense, and a good defense. That should be enough to eke out a few more 1-goal wins.

Here’s the question I wish more people were asking: is average good enough?
