The Good: KINGS WIN, Calgary loses, St. Louis loses, Wild “half-lose”, Preds lose, Stars lose, DUCKS LOSE (always good).
The Bad: Yotes win, Canucks win, Wings win.
The nominally (but not really so) Bad: Jackets win, Sharks win, Hawks win.
FRIDAY UPDATE: Nashville lost. They’re even with the Kings now.
Two points “awarded” for every loss, one point for every OTL/SOL. Lowest point total is best. Number in parentheses is the official standings (via ESPN). Last number (+/-) is number of points (in my system) ahead or behind Los Angeles. Because it’s a Kings-centric universe.
Kings are three points from 4th, three points from 9th. The gap between 2nd and 3rd is widening, as is the gap between 13th and 14th.
- San Jose Sharks 28 (1) +13
- Chicago Blackhawks 28 (2) +13
- Colorado Avalanche 36 (3) +5
- Vancouver Canucks 38 (5) +3
- Phoenix Coyotes 39 (4) +2
- Nashville Predators 41 (6) 0
- Los Angeles Kings 41 (7) —
- Detroit Red Wings 42 (8) -1
- Calgary Flames 44 (9) -3
- Dallas Stars 47 (10) -6
- Anaheim Ducks 49 (11) -8
- St. Louis Blues 49 (13) -8
- Minnesota Wild 50 (12) -9
- Columbus Blue Jackets 57 (14) -16
- Edmonton Oilers 62 (15) -21
Tie breaker is games-played, except that the winner of the tie breaker is the team who has played more games. If this seems counter-intuitive, consider this: A team with a 10-2 record is better than a team with a 2-2 record, who is, in turn better than a team that’s 0-2.
