Kings Extend Budaj

Peter Budaj has come to terms with the LA Kings, signing on for an additional season. The news comes via the Ontario Reign Insider.

The Slovakia native is having a stellar season with the Kings’ farm team, the Ontario Reign. His 30 wins lead the league and he has backstopped the Reign to first place in the Western Conference. Their .680 points percentage is good for second in the AHL, behind only the Toronto Marlies (the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL team), thanks in large part to Budaj. He also leads the league in games played, shutouts, goals against average and save percentage.

Considering the depth of the Kings’ goaltending pipeline, which has boiled down to essentially just Alec Dillon who is currently playing with Edmonton Oil Kings and has only played in seven games this season, this is a good move for the organization.
