What started out as a good-natured April Fool’s Day prank turned ugly when fans learned that the entire first half of the Kings/Canucks game Thursday night was a computer-generated fake. The Kings appeared to have leapt to an improbable 5-0 lead against a Vancouver team that has dominated them recently. But fans became suspcious when Kings captain Dustin Brown fanned on what appeared to be an easy goal, only to have the puck go in anyway. The fake game was aired on Fox Sports West, while inside Staples Center, the result of the actual game is unknown. [UPDATE: a deluge of comments has crashed the www.lakingsinsider.com server, which, a source close to the situation has said is a strong indicator of a Kings loss.]
