Kings Set to Acquire Versteeg?

The Kings may be set to acquire their much sought after rental winger.

Elliotte Friedman reported on Twitter that the Kings are about to acquire the well traveled Kris Versteeg:

Earlier this week, we wrote about almost everyone except Kris Versteeg. We tried so hard to be prepared!

In Versteeg, the Kings are acquiring an experienced winger with a decent scoring touch. His 1.65 Points/60 so far this season place him ahead of Jeff Carter (!!!) but behind Dwight King (wait, what?). He also outperforms Dustin Brown, Tanner Pearson, and even Marian Gaborik. He’ll be a welcome addition to the Kings’ top six.

Versteeg’s possession numbers were briefly the best on the Hurricanes today, since they also traded Eric Staal to New York just a few hours ago. He’s put up a 56.3% Corsi so far this season, and his Corsi relative to his team has also been excellent. Though this is his best possession season to date, he most likely won’t drag down the Kings.

The deal is not yet official, and it is unclear what the Kings have sent to Carolina in exchange for Versteeg. We will update this post with more information as it comes to light!
