Data pulled from Hockey Reference.

Despite their miserable slump in January, the Kings are enjoying one of the best seasons in franchise history.

With 82 points in 66 games, the Kings are on pace to post 102 points this season. That would tie them with the ’90-91 Kings for 2nd most in franchise history. Their 38 wins in 66 games puts them on a 47 win pace. 47 wins would be the most in franchise history. They’ve received points in 62.1% of their games and that is good for third best.

Further, their underlying numbers are even better than the Kings team that won the cup two seasons ago. That Kings team posted a Corsi For % of 54.9. This year’s team sits at 56.3%– good for best in the league. 56.3 is the best mark since the 09-10 Blackhawks posted a 56.5%.

As we’ve pointed out before, since ’07-08 there have been 4 teams that had a Corsi percentage higher than 56%. 2 have won the Stanley Cup, 1 lost in the Final and the other made it to the Conference Finals.
