It’s July 4th, Here’s Some Americans For You

Today is July 4th, and whatever you feel about Independence Day or America or celebrations or fireworks or whether hot dogs are sandwiches or not (Gritty says they are not), we can all at least agree that the Kings have several iconic American players suiting up for them, and so instead of celebrating anything else, we’ll celebrate them instead.

Here are some highlights from each American Kings player from the 2018-19 season. Go watch, and then go enjoy some fireworks and/or cold beers and/or sitting in a movie theater and not talking to a single other person, which is precisely my plan for the afternoon.

Dustin Brown scored 22 goals last season, and while it was a drop off from the highs of 2017-18, he still put up his next-best goals/points tally since the 2011-12 season.

Derek Forbort only scored two goals this year, but did prove to us that he doesn’t know what a chicken is.

Okay, okay, this was actually a really good play from Forbort:

Kings fans voted Alex Iafallo as the Kings player of the year. He’s finally started to find some of that offensive prowess that you want to see from a first-line player.

Paul LaDue didn’t get many games in this season but he did snipe this one past eventual Stanley Cup winner Jordan Binnington:

Trevor Lewis will forever be our true American hero but his adventure with Teddy Purcell here is priceless:

Alec Martinez jumps up to drive the net and scores the eventual game-winner for the Kings here:

Defenseman Matt Roy made his NHL debut this season and recorded his first goal against the Sharks:

And the Kings had an all-American duo in net with Jonathan Quick and Jack Campbell:

And, of course, our now-departed (to the Sharks) Jonny Brodzinski:
