Maxim Kitsyn Sent to ECHL

The Manchester Monarchs announced today that Maxim Kitsyn has been reassigned to the Los Angeles Kings ECHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign. Kitsyn is going to the Reign along with Cameron Burt, who was just released by the Monarchs from a PTO.

The 22-year-old Russian left winger was a 2010 sixth round pick of the Kings. He was signed to a three-year entry level contract by the Kings in the off-season.

In his first professional season in North America, Kitsyn has been a healthy scratch often. He has played in only 20 games for the Monarchs more than halfway through the year, and has a total of three goals and one assist for four points.

Kitsyn previously spent parts of several seasons in the KHL and one season in the OHL. He has 19 points in 110 career KHL games. He was named the KHL rookie of the month in September of 2008. Kitsyn was also part of the Russian Gold medal winning team in the 2011 World Junior Championship. He had nine points in seven games in the 2011 tournament.

Given Kitsyn’s frequent status as a healthy scratch, he will hopefully gain more experience playing consistently in the ECHL and return to the Monarchs eventually.
