Kovalchuk expected to re-sign with Devils today
With Ilya Kovalchuk's agent breaking silence to promise a decision today, it appears the Devils have the inside track on re-signing him to what one source suggests will be a seven-year, $60 million package.

If that's the deal, I don't understand why he wouldn't have done it two months ago. I guess maybe he wanted to see who would offer more? Possibly. I guess I will have to go back to my previous New Jersey post and see if I disagree with myself. (Which happens.)

UPDATE: Oops/haha. The NYPost article's headline has been downgraded from "expected to resign with Devils" to:

"Devils still favorites"

Since they never were favorites, I choose to ignore the whole thing.
