Game Day Watch, 12/4: Montreal Canadiens @ Los Angeles Kings

HOW TO WATCH

Game Time: 12:00 PM Pacific

TV: Fox Sports West, SportsNet, RDS

Radio: KABC AM 790

Stream: Fox Sports Go (requires cable subscription)

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

if you’re a Kings fan: In a very strange game with some very strange goal-scorers, it was easy to forget about the performance of Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik against Arizona. They had a great night, though. Can one of them get on the scoresheet tonight? Kopitar’s last goal was on October 5; Gaborik’s was on February 12.

if you’re a Canadiens fan: Montreal hasn’t scored more than two goals in a road game since October. Carey Price is good, but he isn’t going to guarantee you a win if you don’t score.

if you’re a hockey fan: This is the first game of the day, and there is a fractionally higher chance of seeing an illegal curve penalty than there is in any other NHL matchup. Why wouldn’t you tune in?

PLAYERS TO WATCH

for the Kings: Jordan Nolan. Andy Andreoff is arguably the reason Teddy Purcell was waived, as LA needed a roster spot. Nolan earned himself a spot, at least for tonight’s game, with two goals in Arizona, but he has to keep proving his worth to hold onto a spot with Andreoff and Setoguchi knocking on his door.

for the Canadiens: Max Pacioretty. The American has “only” 15 points through 24 games, and just two in his last seven. Naturally, there are already calls to replace him as captain with good Canadian boy Shea Weber.

LEAGUE/WORLDWIDE WATCH

  • 29 teams didn’t want Teddy Purcell. Thanks, guys. [JftC]
  • Another team did want 23-year-old Reid Boucher when he hit waivers, though. [All About the Jersey]
  • The Chicago Blackhawks needed an emergency goalie yesterday, after Corey Crawford and his appendix stopped getting along. Here’s the story of Eric Semborski. [Chicago Sun-Times]/
