Flyers eye options as goaltending becomes No. 1 priority – NHL – Sporting News

Flyers fans aren’t the only ones frustrated with the goaltending issues in Philadelphia. Owner Ed Snider has had enough too.

Frustrated by a second-round sweep at the hands of the Bruins, Snider told the Philadelphia Inquirer that finding a No. 1 goalie is now a top priority for the organization.

He still sees Sergei Bobrovsky as the goalie of the future in Philadelphia, but isn’t willing to bet only on Bobrovsky figuring things out by next season. With that in mind, here are five options for the Flyers in goal:”We are never going to go through the goalie issues we’ve gone through in the last couple years,” Snider told the paper.

4. Jonathan Bernier / Jonathan Quick . GM Dean Lombardi has a pair of assets in his quality young goaltenders in Los Angeles that he could use to add the scoring weapons the Kings need. Both Quick and Bernier are signed through 2012-13 season at reasonable numbers. Bernier comes with the higher upside although Lombardi wasn’t too eager to deal him when the calls came near the deadline. “I think it’s real important that we have two solid goaltenders,” Lombardi said at the time. “I think we learned last year that you’ve got to be real careful about over-taxing Quicker.”
