New season, new writers: Say hello to some new faces!

The Los Angeles Kings will be welcoming in some new faces as they work to finalize their opening night roster. And we figured: why not us, too?

You may have noticed some new bylines around here as we’ve counted down our Top 25 Under 25 and started to jump into preseason coverage. Today, we’re introducing them all to you.

Say hello to the newest group of writers for the site who will help document and deconstruct the 2019-20 NHL season:

Filip

“The Los Angeles Kings are a proud and historic franchise, but I will never forget that great 2014 Stanley Cup run. Trying to help tracking down the preparation for their next great Cup run for you!”

Steven

I was raised in the rural fringe of the Pacific Northwest. Despite the dense acres of farmland in each direction, hockey was the first sport that was readily available to watch. I spent my teenage years watching the Tri-City Americans of the WHL (during Carey Price’s heyday). Always an observer from a non-NHL market, joining Jewels from the Crown is my first foray into hockey coverage. Now located in Portland’s metro, I have spent the last four years covering the NBA for various sites. My stops include time covering the Warriors, Sixers, and Rockets under the USA Today Sports Media Group. Outside of that trio, the majority of my time has been spent writing and editing at SB Nation’s Trail Blazers site, Blazer’s Edge.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and I’m living proof of the existence of passionate LA sports fans who can be knowledgeable and objective without being overly negative (Kings being the most of all). I aim to contribute articles within that frame. I’m an avid collector of experiences, as a visitor of at least 20 different sports arenas, a goer of at least 50 rock concerts and other live shows, and an attendee of events that emerge when the planets seemingly align just right. I enjoy working out by lifting weights or running a cardio machine at the gym, or participating in activities such as hiking, swimming, or riding a bike. For different reasons, I’ve enjoyed immensely a $60 steak as I have ten tacos on $1 taco Tuesdays at a pub.
