Off-Day Watch 10/12: Jeff Carter’s New Sons
A team looking for chemistry might have finally stumbled upon a combination that works.
John Stevens hit reset on his lines ahead of the Montreal game and, well, what do you know? It worked. The key now is to try to stick with it.
Adding Jeff Carter to the third line helps spread out the Kings’ offensive punch much in the same way that the initial idea of putting Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson with Amadio worked out in the preseason. Creating essentially a 2A and a 2B line makes it much harder for other teams to choose who they want to send out to defend. And Carter’s shown a knack for being able to mesh well with younger players, so perhaps Mike Amadio and Jaret Anderson-Dolan can be this season’s version of Toffoli and Pearson.
Anderson-Dolan certainly didn’t look like a teenager playing against Montreal, taking hits to make plays, being tenacious on the puck, and sending this sweet pass out front to Mike Amadio for the second goal of the game:

Now someone needs to get this kid a goal of his own.
