On Deciding Not to Rob the Bank

Promoted from comments.

Quisp:

Can the player or team try to contest the alleged circumvention or is it only the NHLPA that can do that? If they can contest it then I would assume that’s what Daly is talking about with the possible steps they can take

GoKings09:

Frankly, I don’t know what Daly is talking about.

The NHLPA has a choice of whether to grieve/protest or not.
Then the arbiter gets to rule (unless there’s no protest, in which case, the league wins).

I don’t see any provision for the club or player taking steps.

It’s like the Devils were caught attempting to rob a bank and now the case is going to court. The Devils can’t now renegotiate (“upon further review, we have decided not to rob the bank”) and make the case go away. The case is about whether or not they previous to this moment decided to attempt to rob the bank.

Intent to circumvent is circumvention.

Attempting to circumvent is circumvention.

Wait till this year.
