Michael Houser gets the call today for the Reign. Who? The last time Peter Budaj sat was 11/21 against these same Texas Stars.

Kurtis MacDermid has served nine of his 12-game suspension for late December’s hit on San Diego’s Matt Bailey.

  • The Reign suddenly didn’t get less talented or forget how to play hockey – they’re simply suffering the same affliction that their parent club typically experiences in December and January.

    • Recent injuries (Nic Kerdiles, Bailey) and call-ups (Shea Theodore) have perhaps grounded the Gulls, as they’ve lost three straight.
    • 2008 Los Angeles third-rounder Robbie Czarnik, who was just signed to a PTO by San Diego, might get a chance for some revenge on the Kings organization.
    • The Gulls, similar to their parent club, seem to have Ontario’s number, despite the Reign often outshooting them and frequent quality territorial time in the (Reign) offensive zone. There is also no love lost between these two teams, who established their rivalry back in the preseason with a couple of early scraps.
