Postgame/Rank the Players: Kings v. Islanders

The Kings managed to eek out a victory against the New York Islanders on Thursday night. With the help of Drew Doughty, Johnny Boychuk’s leg, and Jhonas Enroth, the Kings were able to make a 2-1 lead stand as the Isles poured on the pressure in the late stages of the game.

I won’t spend too much time thinking about the lopsided shot total – the game was rather even up until the 3rd period. Then, a desperate Islanders team took the puck and held it hostage, demanding a goal from the Kings. The Kings didn’t negotiate, and just waited it out.

In my opinion, it was a strong effort against a very good team. Dustin Brown looked much, ah, harder tonight. I doubt Darryl Sutter will have many complaints about his game. Kopi looked fast. The Carter/Toffoli duo wasn’t as dynamite, but still did their thing. No one had an off-night on the back end. Just a strong effort from top to bottom.
