Postgame/Rank the Players: Toffoli, Kings Outclass Canucks

So Anze Kopitar had four assists, and that’s like the 5th-most memorable thing about this win. Show us what you thought of the team!

Best Hockey Players of All Time

Here are some quick stats from tonight’s game, which featured plenty of noteworthy accomplishments.

  • So yeah, Kopitar’s four assists. That’s the third time he’s done that, and the other two also took place in December (12/6/07 vs. Buffalo, 12/18/14 vs. St. Louis). The only goal he didn’t assist on was…
  • Derek Forbort’s first career NHL goal! Forbort earned himself a postgame interview with this seeing-eye, nicely deflected shot. He’s not sure if the puck was saved; hopefully someone grabbed it for him.
  • Jonathan Quick earned his 40th career shutout, tying him with John Vanbiesbrouck and Frank Brimsek for the most all-time by an American-born goalie. He’s got an outside shot at breaking that particular record.
  • Tyler Toffoli earned his second career hat trick; his first came last season against Calgary.
  • Brayden McNabb equaled a career high with his second goal of the season.
  • Jordan Weal played 11:58, which is more than three minutes more than his previous NHL high.
  • Despite five team goals, only eight Kings had points. That’s what happens when Toffoli and Kopitar hog the spotlight AS USUAL.

More to come in the recap, including how the Canucks waited about 30 seconds to start fighting the Kings.
