Game Notes

  • Jordan Weal had a so-so showing in his NHL debut so he gets scratched in favor of Andy Andreoff tonight.
  • After three preseason games and two regular season games, Darryl Sutter decided that Gaborik was having a difficult time adjusting back to right wing.
  • Sutter also decided that Lucic-Kopitar-Gaborik wasn’t working so Dustin Brown gets his shot on the top line tonight.
  • Lucic will square off against a familiar foe in Prust tonight. Let’s just say those two have history and Prust, a major thorn on Lucic’s side, usually comes out on top.
  • Ryan Miller is healthy and having an excellent start to his season, having allowed only five goals in three contests, for a sterling 1.60 GAA and .948 sv%.
  • Jonathan Quick, on the other hand… well… you know.
  • The Canucks are undefeated in regulation and won last night in the shootout over Anaheim to lead the division with five points.
  • The Kings are still searching for their first win of the season. Thx Bud has a few suggestions on how to do that here.
  • Jake Virtanen, drafted sixth overall in 2014, will make his NHL debut tonight.
  • Virtanen, Horvat, McCann and Hunter Shinkaruk are the future of Vancouver and will be ones to keep an eye on tonight. Outside of the first three and the Sedins, their lineup really kinda sucks.
  • Adam Cracknell scored the Canucks’ only goal last night so let’s hope the trend of not scoring continues for Vancouver.
