Notes:

  • Home at last! After a grueling 7-games-in-13-days road trip, the Kings have returned to the comforts of their own beds and Staples Center.
  • GREAT NEWS: Anze Kopitar seems like he’s feeling better from that mysterious “lower body” ailment he suffered in St. Louis and should return to the lineup tonight.
  • This is Calgary’s first trip to LA this season and only the second meeting between the division rivals because the schedule is weird.
  • The Canucks continue to puzzle, dealing top prospect Hunter Shinkaruk for Markus Granlund. What this means for the Flames and tonight’s game in terms of who is actually playing and who is scratched is kind of a mystery.
  • This is your daily reminder that the Flams are #bad and they bleed chances against under head coach Bob Hartley’s system.
  • It’s another backup goalie facing the #Kangz tonight as Jonas Hiller has been kind of terrible recently.
  • Neither the Kings nor the Flames seem to enjoy ending their games in regulation as the former has had 15 (!) games go beyond 60 minutes while the latter has played 13. (For what it’s worth, the Kings are tied with the Blackhawks and Flyers with 9 OT wins while the Flames sit fourth with 8.)
  • Prediction: Kings WIN 4-3 in OT because they haven’t been to overtime enough times already this season. Oh, and Andy Andreoff scores the game-winner in the flukiest manner.
