Rank the Players: Can’t Win ‘Em All (in Overtime)

The Kings came back in the third period to earn a much-needed point, and despite getting two short power plays in overtime and scoring first in the shootout, that was all they would get.

Rank the Players after a 3-2 shootout loss in Winnipeg:

After Tanner Pearson scored to kick things off, it was two periods of immense struggle for LA, and a five-minute power play put them down. But the Kings finally got things going in the third, and Tom Gilbert equalized off a feed from Jordan Nolan to send this game to overtime. The opportunities were there against Connor Hellebuyck, but they were there against Peter Budaj as well, and a shootout seemed like a fair way to decide it. (Well, at least as fair as a shootout can be.) LA’s luck ran out there, though, and even Dwight King scoring wasn’t enough to prevent Patrick Laine and Mark Scheifele from giving the Jets the extra point.

There are concerns — road performance and power play woes chief among them — but with Anze Kopitar out, earning a point at all isn’t so bad.
