Rank the Players: Kings Get The Shutout They Need

It’s seemed like LA couldn’t win this week unless they kept the other team off the scoreboard. Today, they did it!

Yes, technically, the Los Angeles Kings got two goals, and as such they could have won without a shutout. But given that the Kings didn’t get that second goal until there were five minutes to go, I’m pretty sure they needed it. Rank the Kings below:

It was Jonathan Quick’s first shutout of the season, putting him only six behind Peter Budaj. (In fairness, Budaj had a tiiiiiiiiiny head start.) And after 40 minutes and two posts by the Buffalo Sabres, the Kings were dying to get that first goal. Thankfully, Jarome Iginla did so, as the Sabres lost track of him. Anze Kopitar did not.

Adrian Kempe’s insurance goal provided the final margin of victory in LA’s fourth consecutive 2-0 home win against the Sabres. What a relief.
