Coming into the Game Tonight

- Prior to playing the Kings, the Winnipeg Jets were 8-3 in the month of November, having won six of their last seven games, including a 3-0 road win on Friday versus the Anaheim Ducks. They have a road record of 10-4./
How It All Played Out
Unlike Friday’s sluggish affair in San Jose against the Sharks, the Los Angeles Kings started out of the gate on a blazing start. After the first ten minutes of the game, they held a 10-3 shot advantage. They were already enjoying a 1-0 lead on the scoresheet, thanks to some great puck movement, finished off by Joakim Ryan, scoring his first goal as an LA King:
The Kings continued their relentless pace. Shortly after the halfway mark of the first period, Nikolai Prokhorkin doubled the lead with some hustle and help with his linemates Trevor Lewis and Kyle Clifford:
Los Angeles finished the first period with a 19-6 shots on goal advantage. Some of those, and some shots that weren’t on net, were of the Grade A quality. It was surprising that the Kings didn’t score four or five.
The early portion of the second period continued right where the Kings left off from the first. They continued to pepper Winnipeg Jets goalie Laurent Brossoit. Momentum, however, began changing when the Kings took penalties. Jeff Carter went off for hooking at 8:05 of the second period, and Trevor Lewis committed a hooking penalty about four minutes later. The Jets concluded the period outshooting the Kings 15-8, but Campbell weathered the storm, shutting out Winnipeg through two periods.
For the third period, the Winnipeg Jets continued their hold of the game, outshooting Los Angeles for yet another period at 13-7. They even got to within one goal of tying the game, when the Jets’ Tucker Poolman found Jack Roslovic across the ice.
The Winnipeg Jets continued to zoom and whiz, swooping ever so close to tying the game. They showed stretches in the final frame that looked like they were poised to score the equalizer. But Jack Campbell showed poise within the noise Winnipeg was making, clinching the Kings victory with this one final unbelievable save:
Los Angeles will continue to look lost in some of their games as they rebuild and adjust. Then they will amaze the fans with a victory over a strong opponent like the Jets. Take the win, the depth scoring, the great goaltending. Here’s to hoping the Kings victory provided Fluffy feelings:
