Rumor Vetting: Looks like Schumacher is staying in North America (for now?)

I had overheard in a few places that Kings prospect Michael Schumacher was considering staying in — or was being held against his will in — Sweden this season. So it was with some relief that I noted his presence in the Soo Greyhounds training camp/pre-season roster. I expect that means we will be seeing him in camp then.

Hounds Roster Trimmed Down to 30 – OurSports Central – Independent and Minor League Sports News

The 2011/12 edition of the Soo Greyhounds is another step closer to being complete after the team’s roster was reduced to 30 active players on Sunday morning.

GM Kyle Dubas, Head Coach Mike Stapleton and their accompanying staff took time following Saturday’s Luke Williams Memorial Red and White game to make their final decisions. And with 11 players expected to leave for various NHL Training Camps in the coming days, the Hounds were left to keep a larger than usual roster heading into OHL exhibition action. Remaining with the club are: Goalies (2) – Matt Murray, Chris Perugini Defense (8) – Mackenzie Braid, Gianluca Curcuruto, Colin Miller, Darnell Nurse, Joe Rogalski, Michael Schwindt, Ryan Sproul, Patrick Volpe Forward (20) – Brandon Alderson, Peter Angelopoulos, David Broll, Tye Campbell, Adam Chapman, Jordan Coccimiglio, Nick Cousins, Carson Dubchak, Corey Durocher, David Elsner, Brett Findlay, Andrew Fritsch, Nick Halagian, Michael Kantor, Trevor Morbeck, David Quesnele, Michael Schumacher, Kyle Shaw, Rudy Sulmonte, Chad Thibodeau.

Here is a picture of Schumacher at development camp two months ago. Note that Jamie Kompon is six feet tall.
