Status Quomoriello

This morning, with IK in Russia preparing for…something:

Fire & Ice – 8/19/2010
Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said this afternoon that he is still trying to re-sign left wing Ilya Kovalchuk, but the sides have not reached an agreement, yet. “Everything is status quo,” he said. Does that mean he is still trying to re-sign Kovalchuk? “Yes,” Lamoriello said “I said I’m not going to comment until everything has come to a conclusion.”

Five weeks ago, with IK in Los Angeles for a visit:

Ilya Kovalchuk to visit Kings in Los Angeles; no deal in place – ESPN 7/11/2010
On Tuesday, when contacted by ESPN.com, Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said, “Everything is status quo, that’s all I’m going to say.”

And the week before that, the day after Grossman tweeted that Kovalchuk would announce his decision “today”:

Fire & Ice – 7/6/2010
Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello called me back this morning, but had little to say about the team’s pursuit of and chances of re-signing left wing Ilya Kovalchuk. When I asked Lamoriello what the status of talks with Kovalchuk, he said. “Everything is status quo. There is nothing to comment on.” Lamoriello declined to comment when I asked if he thought anything would happen with Kovalchuk today.

I gather he says that a lot?
