Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said this afternoon that he is still trying to re-sign left wing Ilya Kovalchuk, but the sides have not reached an agreement, yet. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello called me back this morning, but had little to say about the team’s pursuit of and chances of re-signing left wing Ilya Kovalchuk. When I asked Lamoriello what the status of talks with Kovalchuk, he said. "Everything is status quo. There is nothing to comment on." Lamoriello declined to comment when I asked if he thought anything would happen with Kovalchuk today.

I gather he says that a lot?
