University of Minnesota at Michigan State: Lines, open thread and how to watch

If there were any doubts that the University of Minnesota Gophers could keep their momentum going on the road, last night’s 3-1 win over the Michigan State Spartans should put it to rest. Minnesota outshot Michigan State 34-25, with goals from Ben Meyers, Sampo Ranta and Scott Reedy.

I mentioned yesterday that these are two powerhouse teams at the faceoff circle — Michigan State won 31 faceoffs to Minnesota’s 27, but struggled to maintain possession in the offensive zone. They also took seven penalties and Minnesota struck twice on the man-advantage.

Goaltending and special teams were huge in last night’s game, but Minnesota isn’t worried, keeping the same lineup. Michigan State made a few changes through their bottom-nine.
