What number is Loktionov supposed to wear now?

The Kings announced via twitter today that, in addition to Ethan Moreau taking #17, Colin Fraser will wear #24 and Alec Martinez will switch to #27. Previously, Mike Richards scooped up #10 and Simon Gagne bumped Andrei Loktionov from #12.

So what number will Loktionov go to? He was #48 as a prospect, #12 last year, #90 in Windsor. I don’t like non-traditional “high” numbers, so I hope he doesn’t go back to 48, and 90 is a bit pretentious. I was wondering about #80, since Igor Larionov is his role-model and mentor. Larionov wore #8, but that’s unavailable [insert joke here].

But now with 10, 12, 17, 24 and 27 off the market, the only traditional forward numbers left are…okay, there aren’t any. #4 and #5 are defense numbers. #16, #18 and #20 are retired. #26? Eh.

He’s not going to take Oscar Moller‘s #9, is he? That would make me sad. In my mind, Oscar has just stepped out for coffee.

Maybe #4 or #5 wouldn’t be too bad. Or…

#1?
