You Again! [Kings/Ducks Boxing Day]

Didn’t we just do this? The Ducks shut out the Kings November 29th.

So, what have you been up to? Since then, Kings ended their slump by going 7-2-1, averaging more than three goals per game in that stretch; the Ducks went 6-5-1, keeping their winning percentage a bit above breaking even (.526).

Well, you’re looking good! [Really?] Ducks have scored the same number of goals as their crosstown rivals (98) but have given up far more (111 vs. 77). They rely heavily on their top stars to produce. Walking putrescence/reckless goalie mower Corey Perry leads scoring with 19 goals and 41 points. Rookie defenseman Cam “Baby Spice” Fowler is making everyone who passed him up at the draft look foolish (stupid cellar teams, can’t you get anything right?). Heroic/stoic Swiss goalie Jonas Hiller maintains a .923 SV% despite facing an onslaught of shots every night. Balding pretzel-monger Ryan Getzlaf probably also has more career points now than hairs left on his head, so there’s that.

Hey, whatever happened to… Ducks LW Matt Beleskey has been recalled from the AHL. Marco Sturm will debut on the top line. Jonathan Bernier will start in net tonight.

OMG, did you hear about… Injured Kings: Parse, Mitchell. Injured Ducks: Nick Bonino (bone bruise, foot), Aaron Voros (orbital bone fracture)

The Kings have one more point (41) even though the Ducks have played five more games. Everyone’s tired and probably full of pie and ham, but they must convert those into wins.
