Game Notes:

  • After we all wrote many, many words about how the Ducks are bad at possession and should feel bad about themselves, they went out and played the Kings pretty much to a draw during game one, in terms of shot attempts. They also completely thumped the Kings in scoring chances, and the Kings pretty much only escaped with a win thanks to Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik’s heroics. How embarrassing
  • Part of the problem, of course, was that the Kings played with only five defencemen and it appears that Coach Sutter got a little wild & wacky with the line combinations in OT. I never thought I would be genuinely upset about a Robyn Regehr injury, but…hey, here we are. I would have rather seen recent acquisition Brayden McNabb in the lineup, but I don’t think anybody’s surprised that Coach Sutter opted instead to insert veteran Jeff Schultz. What is a Jeff Schultz and what does it do? Robert, SEO master, explains here.
  • Schultz will slot directly into Regehr’s spot on the second pairing with Slava Voynov (I would expect the Matt Greene & Alec Martinez pairing to play less sheltered minutes tonight), and the rest of the Kings lineup remains the same as it was to begin game one.
  • The Ducks’ lineup remains unchanged from Saturday night, including Jonas Hiller in net. I wasn’t able to watch the game, so I have no sense of how Hiller performed, but I am basically only happy when the Kings are causing goalie controversies for all of their enemies. BRING ME THE HEAD OF FREDERIK ANDERSEN.
  • ~Fun With Numbers~ from Extra Skater. Drew Doughty, oh man.
  • Prediction: Kings win 1000000-0. Teemu Selanne retires early, crying shameful tears. Justice for Robyn Regehr.
