According to Hammond, Andrew Campbell, Thomas Hickey and Viatcheslav Voynov are all on the ice this morning. Nicolas Deslauriers was sent to Manchester in the first batch of cuts. Jake Muzzin is out (for how long, nobody knows) with a neck issue. Drew Doughty is still without a contract. That leaves us with, by my count, ten defensemen:
Willie Mitchell – Voynov
Hickey – Davis Drewiske
Campbell
(Muzzin)
- Either I’m just bored with Drewiske, or he looks worse than either Voynov or Hickey at this point. I fully admit I could be wrong.
- It looks to me like Voynov has a spot…
- …and Hickey might.
- I’m glad Campbell is getting a longer look this year, though I have zero awareness of him in this pre-season.
- Lombardi seems to like to reward great camps, which makes me think that Voynov and Hickey will stick around longer than Muzzin.
- Maybe Lombardi is trying to figure out whether either of Muzzin or Campbell could replace Drewiske.
- Two, maybe three, of these ten will be cut this week. Most likely: Muzzin and Campbell?
