Game 22 Recap: Kings win fifth straight at home over Oilers

133-Word Game Recap

Five straight home wins. Three Kings finished with three points each. Opening night loss avenged. All in all it was a good night as the Los Angeles Kings took apart the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 at Staples Center.

The Kings reminded the Oilers they might not be ready for the prime time taking out the West’s second best team in a dominant performance. Leon Draisaitl, a minus three on the night, had his point streak end at 13 games while Connor McDavid was hounded by Jeff Carter all night and held to one lone goal.

Tyler Toffoli racked up his first multi-goal game and first three-point game (2G, 1A) of the season while Carter (1G, 2A) continued his strong play and validated the Jewels From The Crown plea not to trade him anytime soon…

Game Notes

Stars of the Game—Drew Doughty, 3 assists, +4 (1st), Toffoli (2nd), Jonathan Quick, 25 saves (3rd)… Mike Smith had nine saves and was replaced to start the second period by Mikko Koskinen (16 saves)… Edmonton dropped to 14-7-3 and the Kings improved to 9-12-1… This is the Kings’ widest margin of victory this year… McDavid extended his point streak to nine games (10G, 11A)… In his 100th career game, Michael Amadio had a goal and an assist… In a true shocker, the Kings did not allow a power play goal and managed to score one of their own…

UP NEXT: The Kings look to avenge Tuesday’s 3-0 shutout as they host the Arizona Coyotes at 1:00 P.M. PDT at Staples Center on Saturday.
