67’s’ Tyler Toffoli Named OHL Player of the Week – OurSports Central
Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 14. Toffoli led the OHL with nine points in three games scoring six goals and three assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-7. After contributing an assist for Team OHL in the 4-0 win over Team Russia in the 2010 SUBWAY Super Series game in London on Thursday, Toffoli returned to the 67’s and recorded his first hat-trick of the season on Friday night as first star of a 3-2 win over the Sarnia Sting. He followed that up by notching the game-winning goal plus an assist on Saturday in a 6-2 win over the Peterborough Petes. He finished the week on Sunday with another first star performance scoring twice and adding two assists in a 7-3 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Toffoli, an 18-year-old from Scarborough, ON, is playing in his third OHL season with the 67’s. Selected in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, 47th overall by the Los Angeles Kings, Toffoli is fourth in league scoring with 34 points in 22 games including 18 goals and 16 assists.

OTTAWA – Tyler Toffoli scored all three goals Friday night as the Ottawa 67’s posted a 3-2 win over the Sarnia Sting in Ontario Hockey League play Friday night. Shane Prince had three assists for Ottawa (12-8-0) while Ryan Martindale had two. Petr Mrazek made 22 saves in the win, although he faced only 11 shots through the first 40 minutes and the 67’s took a 1-0- lead into the final period. Dean Pawlaczyk and Craig Hottot scored for the Sting (8-9-2), who got a 29-save performance from John Cullen. Ottawa took a one-goal lead three times, but Sarnia was only able to come back from that deficit twice. Toffoli scored at 14:41 of the third period to give the 67’s a 3-2 lead, and they had two power plays after that to try and pad that lead but were unsuccessful. “All the lines were working hard and we all had chances. Fortunately for me I put three in,” Toffoli said.

Russia Storms Back to Beat WHL 7-6 in Shootout
Team WHL looked to have control of the game after taking a 6-3 lead in the third period on power play goals less than a minute apart from the Regina Pats’ Jordan Weal and Saskatoon Blades’ Curtis Hamilton. However, the Russians stormed back with three goals in a 1:42 span to tie the game at 6-6 and send it to the shootout. Sergei Kalinin, the Russian side’s Player of the Game, scored just 38 seconds after Hamilton had made it 6-3. Maxim Kitsyn – on the power play – and Artem Voronin followed with goals 46 seconds apart to knot up the contest.

Kitsyn leads all players in the tournament with 2 goals and 4 assists. Of course, the Russians have played six games, while the CHL players have seen only one or two games. Weal, Toffoli, Vey and Nicolas Deslauriers have a point each.
