Happy Deadline Day! The Los Angeles Kings took care of their business yesterday…
- Robyn Regehr has arrived from Buffalo. A video interview and assorted quotes from Regehr are available for your consumption on LA Kings Insider; he seems like a good dude. I’ll certainly be rooting for him to make a positive impact with the team; expect him to debut tomorrow night.
- Davis Drewiske has departed for Montreal. Habs Eyes on the Prize reflects on the move. According to the Ottawa Citizen, Michel Therrien likes his team with only that minor addition.

- Last season’s Public Enemy #1 in Los Angeles, Ryane Clowe, was shipped off to the New York Rangers for a fun assortment of draft picks. He will be expected to help offset the loss of Marian Gaborik, who is on his way to Columbus. Good luck, Ryane! I’m sure the expectations are going to be reasonable and no one will blame you if the Rangers miss the playoffs. Fear the Fin has more.
- The San Jose Sharks added two players on the day of the deadline. The first move was to acquire former Shark Scott Hannan, but the interesting move was the acquisition of GLOBAL Public Enemy #1 Raffi Torres from the Phoenix Coyotes. Five For Howling shares their thoughts, and the fan reaction on Fear the Fin is fun. The trade allows Kings fans to focus any Phoenix-related gripes towards Shane Doan and Mike Smith, while making the Sharks a considerably more aggravating team to face. Stay safe, boys.
- One more move within the Pacific Division: the Coyotes traded center Matthew Lombardi to the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim Calling has some feedback with help from their Coyotes counterparts; it’ll be interesting to see where he fits in the Ducks’ lineup.

- Injuries abound. We covered the news of Willie Mitchell’s knee troubles earlier this afternoon; it’s a potentially sad ending for the second man to lift the Stanley Cup as a Los Angeles King, but it’s way too early to speculate too much. Meanwhile, both Matt Greene and Dustin Penner skated today (without contact); while Greene is still on target for a return around the end of the month, there are no indications of when Penner will come back. - Finally, we’ve mentioned Sports Club Stats and their constantly updated playoff probabilities (with teams’ chances determined mainly using their record and goal differential) a few times before. The Western Conference seems tight, but their current odds chart shows how difficult it will be for teams out of the playoff picture to work their way back. We’re sitting pretty at 96% odds to make the playoffs.
