Reign sign Nick Halloran

The Ontario Reign announced on Thursday that they have signed forward Nick Halloran to an AHL contract. The 23-year-old forward finished his senior year at Colorado College serving as an alternate captain. In 2019-20, his 30 points and 12 goals were second on the team, while he ranked first in assists with 18.

In four years with the CC Tigers, Halloran tallied 40 goals and 59 assists over 119 games. He missed the second half of his junior season due to injury, as well as the final game of the 2019-20 season, though that injury was considered minor.

The stand-out season for the 5-foot-11 native of Draper, Utah came in his sophomore year at Colorado. He was a first-team all-NCHC pick and a CCM/AHCA All-America West Second Team selection after leading the team in scoring and cracking the top-20 overall in the league with 45 points (19 goals, 26 assists) in 37 games. His line that year was known for the players wearing consecutive numbers — 13, 14 and 15 — and one of those linemates includes Mason Bergh, who signed an amateur tryout with the Reign last year, splitting this season between Ontario and the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL.

“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to join the Reign,” Halloran told Kate Shefte of The Gazette via text. “Hoping to make (an) impact as soon as the season starts. Hopefully everyone stays safe and we can beat the virus first and foremost.”
