Kings will pick 8th overall in 2021 NHL Draft

The Los Angeles Kings did not win either lottery pick in the 2021 NHL Draft Lottery, but thankfully were not dropped any further down, finishing with the eighth-overall pick in the 2021 Entry Draft. The Buffalo Sabres won the first overall pick and the Seattle Kraken became the first expansion team to win a draft lottery selection with second overall.

Though the 80s and 90s saw their fair share of picks in the 7 to 10 range, the Kings have never drafted at eighth overall. The last two drafts saw the Kings pick in the top five, moving down two spots in the lottery to select Alex Turcotte fifth overall in 2019 and win the lottery themselves to draft Quinton Byfield second overall in 2020.
