Kings sign Alex Iafallo to 4-year extension

The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed forward Alex Iafallo to a four-year deal worth an average of $4 million per season.

Iafallo has 11 goals and 14 assists in 39 games this season and ranks fifth on the team in power-play points. The 27-year-old winger is second on L.A. in ice time, averaging 20:09 minutes per game.

This is Iafallo’s fourth season with the team. He originally signed with the Kings as an undrafted free agent in April of 2017. He has put up 126 points in 266 career games with L.A.

It looks like general manager Rob Blake is content with his young core. Locking up Iafallo gives the Kings a cost-controlled middle-six forward who can move up and down the lineup. Iafallo’s 52.1 Corsi For percentage ranks third among any L.A. player that has played in more than 10 games this season.

Blake made one other move ahead of the NHL trade deadline. The Kings sent veteran Jeff Carter to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a pair of conditional draft picks.
