Tom Gilbert Traded to Washington Capitals
The veteran defenseman moves on from Los Angeles / Ontario to the US capital.
News broke earlier this morning that the Los Angeles Kings have traded Tom Gilbert to the Washington Capitals for “future considerations.” Here are the terms of the deal:
1) #Caps have obtained D Tom Gilbert from LA for future considerations. Considerations are as follows: Kings retain 20% of Gilbert's salary.

2) If #Caps win two or more playoff rounds during the '17 playoffs and Gilbert plays in 50% or more of Caps' total playoff games ...
— Mike Vogel (@VogsCaps) February 15, 2017
3) then #Caps will send 5th round pick in 2017 entry draft to LA. If this condition is not met, Caps won't transfer anything to Kings.

Also of note: Gilbert will report to AHL Hershey Bears, per Tom Gulitti.
Gilbert didn’t really fit in with LA’s more mobile style as Kings coach Darryl Sutter has opted to go with some of his younger players this season. Given that Gilbert was placed on waivers earlier this season, an additional fifth round pick would be a bonus. The veteran defenseman can still move the puck out of his zone at a decent rate and is a decent pickup for any team looking to add depth to their team.
