Oilers @ Kings: Reaction Thread

Kings win 3-0 and keep pace with the Ducks who’ve now won 6 in a row. Eric will have a recap in the morning and Nick will have the analysis, but for now, some bullet points.

  • All your shutouts are belong to Martin Jones: Jonesedm1__1__medium

  • Martin Jones now has a .972 save percentage, which obviously leads the league. What the hell is happening?
  • The Kings out-attempted the Oilers 64-42 at evens. LA finished strong, out-attempting Edmonton 23-9 in the 3rd period despite playing with the lead.
  • Lewis-Richards-Toffoli was the Kings 3rd line and they played very well. They all finished well ahead in possession and were matched against the Oilers’ 2nd line of Perron-Gagner-Yakupov.
  • In case you didn’t notice, Linden Vey also played in this game and he centered the 4th line. That line was also ahead in possession. This was the Kings’ best outing from their bottom six in a very long time.
  • Drew Doughty returned to form as his very dominant self. He took over the game and created the Kings’ first goal pretty much single-handedly. Doughty is on a mission for the Norris.
  • The Kings now have 50 points on the season. That’s 3rd best in the NHL and 3 points behind the Ducks for 1st in the Pacific.
