Ontario falls to Bakersfield, but the result wasn’t the big story.
The Three-Way Chevrolet Condorstown Outdoor Classic presented by Mission Bank is just going to be known as The Rain Game from now on, and that’s quite all right. The Ontario Reign and the Bakersfield Condors took each other on at Memorial Stadium in Bakersfield, and after last year’s AHL outdoor contest was delayed a day by rain, the organizers decided that nothing would stop them from getting this game in. The rain did finally let up before the third period, and though the Reign carried a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes, the Condors took advantage of “normal” playing conditions to tie the game in the third. In the end, defenseman Griffin Reinhart got the overtime winner for Bakersfield, sending the (drenched) fans home happy.
