Toffoli is OHL Player of the Week; Toffoli and Vey win scoring titles

Ottawa 67’s Tyler Toffoli Named OHL Player of the Week

The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward and co-recipient of the OHL’s Top Scorer Award Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s is the OHL Player of the Week for the third time this season. […] He exploded for five points matching a season-high netting four goals including a natural hat-trick plus an assist as first star of a 7-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves. Toffoli, an 18-year-old from Scarborough, ON, finished the season with a league-high 57 goals plus 51 assists for 108 points to share the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy and the Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy with Akeson as the league’s Top Scorer and Top Scoring Right Winger.

Last season, Toffoli finished 18th in the OHL with 79 points. Tyler Seguin and Taylor Hall were tied for 1st with 106 points.

Tiger Turf: Linden Vey Wins WHL scoring Title

Linden Vey managed an assist [Sunday] bringing his point total to 116 […] [The] last Tiger to win the scoring title was Tom Lysicak in the 71-72 and 72-73 seasons. […] Vey is also the CHL leading [scorer].

Robbie Czarnik finished 28th in the OHL, with 33 goals and 44 assists. Jordan Weal finished 5th in the WHL, with 43 goals and 53 assists. Last season, Weal was 3rd in the WHL; Brandon Kozun was 1st. (Justin Azevedo was 1st in the OHL back in 07-08; that completes the Kings’ collection of juniors scoring champions.)
