As Jewels from the Crown prepares to dive into the 2019-20 season, we’re looking to add some new faces to our writing staff!
While we’re always looking for anyone with an interest in the Kings and sportswriting, this year, we’re focusing on adding writers to help us out with some key areas of coverage. Read on to see what we’re looking for:
Game day coverage: Do you like doing opposition research? Want to make bold predictions or clue Kings fans in on what they should watch for in a game? Then maybe game previews will be of interest. Or do you like breaking down what happened, neatly summarizing the events of a game? Then maybe writing game recaps is for you.
Daily news/links roundups: Are you someone who is Extremely Online? Always searching out interesting Kings news or hockey-related articles to share with your friends? Consider joining our team to contribute to our daily posts informing readers of Kings/NHL/general hockey items of interest.
Prospects/Minor Leagues: Love the AHL? Curious to find out what happens with the Kings’ ECHL-level players now that the Manchester Monarchs are no more? Love keeping tabs on the WHL? We’re looking for more writers to write about the prospects in the Kings system, from the newest draft picks on up.
Team history: Are you a scholar of Kings teams past? Want to relive the Gretzky days? Want to do a deep dive into who tended goal for the Kings in the 90s? JFTC would love to add posts on team history, important milestones, players you may have forgotten about, and more.
If none of these float your boat, but you’d still like to contribute, please apply anyway!
We’re looking for writers with passion for the Kings. Past sportswriting experience is a plus, but not necessary — we will help you work on your writing skills if you are new to this.
At this time, contributor positions are on a volunteer basis. You do not need to be Los Angeles-based to be a part of the team. We welcome and encourage diverse voices to apply. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below or send them to Sarah at sarah.jftc@gmail.com.
If you’d like to help cover the team this season (and beyond), please apply using the form below (or open it in a new page with this link). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through the start of the season.
